The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin passed a few weeks ago. Naturally, the Left could not help but do what they do and use her funeral to bash President Trump. Such class. I chose to hear something different…
One of the great messages that we cherish at CauseACTION is reflected in a song sung by that other great Lady of Soul, Gladys Knight: “I Hope You’ll Dance”.
There was a time in my life when I wasn’t sure I wanted to dance. Perhaps that is something that you have or do deal with now?
A bit more explanation…
I am a bicycle rider and it is my greatest blessing to live along fourteen miles of some of the most beautiful Connecticut Shoreline you can imagine. My bike ride is my time for reflection, prayer and the occasional lunatic driver. The truth is, I often find myself weeping a bit out of both joy and frustration. Always, there is a healthy dose of wonder.
“I Hope You’ll Dance” is on my ride playlist that I cherish because as I ride along Long Island Sound, “I still feel small by the ocean” and it encourages me. The truth is that there are hard times in all our lives and we all need encouragement.
So, a simple Rant today – a song that I hope will encourage and challenge you. A song that says what we at CauseACTION stand for because “when we get the choice” we will not sit it out and we will dance. We act.

“I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty-handed
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances, but they’re worth takin’
Lovin’ might be a mistake, but it’s worth makin’
Don’t let some Hellbent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to sellin’ out, reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance (Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along)
I hope you dance
I hope you dance (Tell me who wants to look back
on their years and wonder
I hope you dance (Where those years have gone?)
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance (Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along I hope you dance. Tell me who wants to look back
on their years and wonder”
So, CauseACTION friends, don’t ever forget to dance, OK?
Onward…
